How Much to Rent a Dumpster?

All of our dumpster sizes from 10 to 45 yard cost the same amount.

The debris type, debris weight, dumpster size, rental duration and your location all play a part in the cost of dumpster rentals across the country. Here is how these 5 major factors impact roll off dumpster prices.

  1. Type of Debris – Our drivers must transport construction materials and yard debris to various processing facilities. You may pay more if you’re getting rid of hard-to-process items, like mattresses, depending on the city you’re in.
  2. Size of Dumpster – We provide a variety of roll-off dumpster sizes, ranging from 10 to 45 cubic yards. Your project and the debris you’re throwing out will determine the size of the dumpster container you require. In case you’ll be getting rid of more debris, a larger bin is needed and this increases the cost of your dumpster rental.
  3. Duration of Rental – Your rental period affects the cost of renting a dumpster. The price will increase if you need to keep your dumpster for an extended period of time.
  4. Location – Fuel prices, demand, and disposal fees differ from city to city.
  5. Weight of Debris – Disposal fees are charged based on the calculated weight of your debris at landfills. When you rent a dumpster from us, we’ll give you a certain weight restriction, and you must keep within that limit to avoid additional fees. Not sure about your debris weight? Use our dumpster weight calculator below to get an estimated total weight of your debris.

The following additional costs are charged by the majority of dumpster rental companies.

  • Delivery Fee – The cost of transporting a roll off dumpster to the designated location.
  • Removal Fee – Charged for hauling away the dumpster from the location.
  • Special Items – Electronics and large household items are subject to a special item fee. The regulations on both local and state sites differ.
  • Additional Days – An additional day fee could range from $5 to $10 per day or much more.
  • Shorter Rental – In some cases, you can still be charged for a full one-week rental fee even if you don’t use the dumpster for a full week.
  • Overload Fee – There is a fee for each additional ton when a roll off dumpster exceeds its maximum weight capacity.
  • Overflow Fee – On open top dumpsters, this fee may apply to any debris that is higher than the Maximum Fill Line.
  • Taxes – You often have to pay both federal and state taxes when renting a dumpster.

NOTE: Costs associated with obtaining permits should also be considered. Contact your local city or county for more details, as this fee is not covered by the price of renting a dumpster.

Keep informed of what is permitted in the landfills and recycling centers in your area or inquire with a member of our Support Center staff.

Do I need a permit to rent a roll off dumpster?

Typically, dumpster permits are necessary if you intend to place your dumpster container on a street, sidewalk, or other public property. On the other hand, you won’t require a permit if you're placing it on your private property or the property of your business. When you place your order online, our team will walk you through the permitting process and help you find a suitable location for your dumpster rental.

Where is the best place to put a roll off dumpster?

Locate an even space with a minimum of 3 feet of clearance on all sides of the dumpster, an unobstructed height of at least 10 feet, and an open front space of at least 34 feet for a service pickup. To lessen the chance of damage, we recommend covering or placing wood underneath your dumpster if a paved driveway is being used.

Will a dumpster fit in my driveway?

DTG Recycle has dumpster sizes ranging from 10 to 45 cubic yards. Most of our dumpster rentals are eight feet wide so there should be enough space in your driveway.

How can I use a roll-off dumpster in a move?

A temporary roll-off dumpster rental serves as a place to dispose of huge amounts of damaged objects, old appliances, and construction debris when you're getting ready to move into another house. Don't forget to avail our recycling pickup services after you’ve settled in your new home.
